BIOEN 509: Bioengineering Departmental Seminar

Students who attend the lecture in-person:
1. Must attend a minimum of NINE (9) lectures in person and actively participate in discussions (PLEASE SIGN IN)
2. Must write a minimum of THREE (3) 1-page critique on lectures you attend in person, see guidelines below
3. For every lecture not able to attend in person, must watch the online video and submit a critique on it. This is in addition to the 3-critique minimum requirement.
Students who are unable to attend the lecture in-person:
1. Must watch the lectures online
2. Submit 9 out of 10 1-page critiques on the weekly lectures during the quarter

Lecture critique guidelines:
1. Critique is limited to one page, Word format, font size=11 or 12, saved as .pdf)
2. Critiques should be submitted in .pdf format as an attachment to bioetalk@uw.edu, due by Thursday March 15 for 2012 Winter quarter, and Thursday June 7 for 2012 Spring quarter. THE SUBJECT OF YOUR EMAIL SHOULD BE "Your Lastname First initial, Lecture # Critique". For example "Yager P., Lecture 1 Critique"
3.Describe weak and strong points; good and bad features
4.Identify important principles
5.New information gathered; new things learned
6.Present your perspectives on lecture’s topic
7.Criticize the presentation itself. How could it be improved?
Note: Due to lack of TAs, feedback on critiques will not be provided during the quarter. Grading of all submitted critiques will be done at the end of the quarter. |
