- Lecture: Building a Website using Simple
Site, a Catalyst Tool
William Washington - User-centered Designer - Lab: Build A COM300 Web Site on your DANTE account
- Activate Web Publishing (if you have not already done so)
- Manage Your UW NetID Resources. (login with your UW Net ID)
- Select Turn services on or off from the left navigation menu.
- Under "Services that are off", check Turn on next to "Web Publishing" and "Dante Account".
- Click Continue and follow the instructions in the next pages. Your account's Web publishing will subsequently be enabled.
- Create a Web Site
- Login to Catalyst Tools by going to the Web Tools Login.
- Click the "SimpleSite" link
on the Catalyst Tools Menu
- Select your website in the Available Websites dropdown menu.
- Select "Work on This Website" (default radio button)
- Select "Next"
- Create a New Folder called
com300 (note case)
- Select the New Folder button
- Type com300 in the "new folder name" field
- Select "Next"
- Create your COM 300 home page
- Select the com300 folder in the left-navigation pane
- Select New Page button (Catalyst
How-To )
- Select a default template set for this Web site (I've used "Home Page")
- Make sure the location is public_html/com300/
- Name the file "index.html" if it is not already named (may be index.shtml)
- Select "Next"
- Add some content. You might link to your blog. (Catalyst How-To)
- A Very Plain Example!
- Activate Web Publishing (if you have not already done so)
