• Lecture: Building a Website using Simple Site, a Catalyst Tool
  William Washington - User-centered Designer
• Lab: Build A COM300 Web Site on your DANTE account
  1. Activate Web Publishing (if you have not already done so)
     1. Manage Your UW NetID Resources. (login with your UW Net ID)
     2. Select Turn services on or off from the left navigation menu.
     3. Under "Services that are off", check Turn on next to "Web Publishing" and "Dante Account".
     4. Click Continue and follow the instructions in the next pages. Your account's Web publishing will subsequently be enabled.
  2. Create a Web Site
     1. Login to Catalyst Tools by going to the Web Tools Login.
     2. Click the "SimpleSite" link on the Catalyst Tools Menu
        1. Select your website in the Available Websites dropdown menu.
        2. Select "Work on This Website" (default radio button)
        3. Select "Next"
     3. Create a New Folder called com300 (note case)
        1. Select the New Folder button
        2. Type com300 in the "new folder name" field
        3. Select "Next"
     4. Create your COM 300 home page
        1. Select the com300 folder in the left-navigation pane
        2. Select New Page button (Catalyst How-To )
           1. Select a default template set for this Web site (I've used "Home Page")
           2. Make sure the location is public_html/com300/
           3. Name the file "index.html" if it is not already named (may be index.shtml)
           4. Select "Next"
        3. Add some content. You might link to your blog. (Catalyst How-To)
