CM313 LABS & Field Trips
CM313 LABS & Field Trips Our hands-on laboratory is located at the Pacific Northwest Center for Construction Research and Education (PNCCRE) aka. Sandpoint (map). Directions to the CM313 Lab facility [AKA Sandpoint] You can take the 75 or 74 bus out to the facilities. Also, there is free parking. [You might try to find some car pool buddies, as you will need to car pool to the field trips as well. It is the students' responsibility to arrange their own transportation to all labs and field trips.]� After you enter through the main gate at 74th and Sandpoint Way, you take a left on the first major street inside the park. Halfway down on your left you will see a large sign "SUPPLY DEPARTMENT" above the entrance to Building 5. Park anywhere in this area and enter.We will be meeting in the Materials and Methods laboratory - continue through the building to the back [west side] of the building, ground level. Masonry Site Visit 6620 Coal Creek Parkway SE ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Stuff you will need for the tours There is a worksheet you will fill out on each tour, so bring a pencil/pen. You may also want to bring a clipboard. You will be required to provide your own PPE (personal protective equipment). See other side of sheet for the required equipment and suggested purchase locations. Getting there You are responsible for your own transportation to the tour sites. The addresses are listed above for you to find directions. Plan enough time to arrive about 5 minutes early so tours can start promptly. We encourage you to form car pools. Sign Up You must sign up for either section 1 or 2. Your assigned time will be for both tours. If you have a class immediately following lab, you should sign up for the earlier slot. If you don't, please consider signing up for the later slot to leave room for these students. Personal Protective Equipment For the lab portion of the class, you will be required to provide your own PPE (personal protective equipment). The PPE required for the class consists of: a safety vest, saftey glasses, a hardhat, and sturdy closed-toe shoes (hiking boots/work boots recommended). Also, long pants will be required when going on the tours. Below are approximate prices and locations of where you can purchase the PPE. Home Depot and the Safety and Supply Company have larger quantities on hand. The Safety and Supply Company has a minimum purchase amount of $25, so keep that in mind when going there. The True Values only stock about 3 hardhats or so at a time.
