- Setup your UW NetID account on Dante. ?
- Create a web page for yourself. ?
- Download a copy of your website index file (index.html)
to your local computer using FTP. ? DOWNLOAD
UWICK STARTER SOFTWARE.
Alternately, you can purchase the complete UWICK software CD at the
University Bookstore for $19.00. This kit additionally includes
virus protection software, Acrobat Reader and other Internet tools.
- Customize your main web page (index.html) in
your public_html folder using MS Word as an HTML authoring tool. ? (See
Unleashed page 992 for details of how to use MS Word as
an HTML authoring tool.)
- Add several links on your page to construction-related
sites that are useful to you. (Cutting and pasting from
your browser in the easiest way to do this.)
- Save everything , including all image files that you may have
added, back to your web account. (ftp://dante.u.washington.edu/[your
username]/public_html/
) using FTP software. ?
- Email a link to mhuppert@u.washington.edu
when complete.
- Either compose the email in HTML (if your
mail program allows this option) and insert the link,
or type the complete address of your website in the
subject line of the email.
EXTRA CREDIT
- Create a new page (call it cm560.html ) and add
industry links targeted towards something specific. (e.g.
mechanical contracting, architecture, or construction
software - or anything else that interests you.)
- Create a link to the newly created page on your index.html
page.
