Case Study - Group Assignment

"Develop a Benefit/Cost Framework by which to judge the effectiveness of the 4-D system presented in Into the Fourth Dimension. "

1. Read the article Into the Fourth Dimension handed out in class. Get together with your "presentation" group.

2. Create an Excel table that outlines all of the potential costs of the system. Include those mentioned in the article and any that may not have been mentioned. Quantify those costs that have a value.

3. On a separate worksheet, create an Excel table that outlines all of the potential benefits of the system. Include those mentioned in the article and any that may not have been mentioned. Quantify those Benefits that have a value.

4. On yet a third worksheet, create a small model that calculates the benefit vs. cost of the scenario.

5. Use "Scenario Manager" to create a second scenario where you assign some arbitrary dollar value to each of the unquantifiable costs and benefits.

6. Email a copy of the completed spreadsheet to mhuppert@u.washington.edu by the end of class. Include the names of your group members and the group number.
