Ballistic Spin Resonance

We report a novel spin resonance effect, mediated by spin-orbit interaction when periodic trajectories are commensurate with the ESR frequency defined by the external magnetic field. This effect is detected by measuring pure spin currents in a high-mobility GaAs 2D electron gas, generated and detected electrically using quantum point contacts in a magnetic field. The currents propagate down quasi-1D channels for distances up to 50 microns.
