week 5 : 25 april
explore seattle assignments

Please sign up for assignments on the Bryght Site.

Everyone will write at least two "stories" -- if you choose to write an indepth review (for example, profiling an owner, location or barista) then you would write a shorter piece on Ballard.

Copy editor, designer, coder, tester - these jobs substitute for an additional story. (In other words, if you do not do one of these jobs, you need to write another "story" for a total of three tasks/stories.)

Agreed to in class: the first story (your choice) due in two weeks; the second due in 3.5 weeks.

  • Content creators - reviews - Everyone does one of these. No consensus on word length.
    • Remember: independent (not Starbucks, for example) coffee shops
    • Review information to include narrative (subjective review) as well as:
      • Address, Hours, Multiple Locations
      • Menu (other than coffee)
      • Link to Google Maps and crop of screenshot
      • Appropriate photos
      • Sound if appropriate
      • What makes this place special? Music, books, events?
      • Coffee Shop Web Site Link

  • Content creators - Ballard - Everyone does one of these
    • These are local stories, such as interviews with long-time citizens, features about local businesses or landmarks, history. Should include photos and sound if appropriate. Stories illustrate what makes Ballard unique. May work in pairs; petition if you think the story is indepth enough to count for both participants (for example, including video).
