You can also use Audacity to cut the file size of the wav audio files about in half and still leave them recognized by the game.  This is especially nice considering that wav files can be very large.  To try this using Audacity:

  1. load wav file (or convert to wav first)
  2. click Edit > Preferences
  3. scroll to the "File Formats" tab
  4. in the "Uncompressed Export Format" area change the selection to "Wav (Microsoft 8 bit PCM)"
  5. click "OK"
  6. click File > Export As WAV
Since it is likely the audio we are working with was compressed at sometime (as an mp3 or something) changing the bit rate to 8 bit PCM probably won't affect the audio quality that much and has the significant benefit of reducing file size by about 2.
