8.3 A complex mouseover
Mouseovers can also be used to create navigation without
images -- text-based navigation that either "flys out" or
"drops down" uses CSS and Javascript to create what is
known as dynamic html.
There are usability issues with these menus because they are "hidden" -- thus the web site visitor must discover them by waving her mouse around the page. Sophisticated web customers come to expect this type of navigation, but research suggests most people don't move their mouse until they have made a decision to click. In those cases, the hidden information does not help them intuit the site navigation structure. Examples: |
