Applications of Digital Technologies in Humanities Research

Course description

This course will offer students the opportunity to learn about the key technologies influencing and transforming humanities research and scholarly communication. This course will provide students a hands-on project based approach to  imaging, new media, electronic texts, databases, metadata, rights management, and  other issues central to contemporary humanities research. The course will take advantage of the advanced technology resources and the expertise of the personnel of the Center for Advanced Research Technology in the Arts and Humanities and the Center  for Digital Arts and Experimental Media.

Offered jointly with HUM 411.


Grading policy
  1. Students will present weekly project updates
  2. Students will give a final project presentation in week eight (8)
  3. Students will prepare and submit in week nine (9) a final project deliverable which will consist of a CD/DVD containing:  (a) project description (text/html), (b) project work plan (text/html), (c) project evaluation (text/html), (d) a working version of their completed project
