Legends of the Black Sea Traces of Classical Culture in Contemporary Russian Literature and Culture
- Mary Childs, organizer
- Stacy Waters, assistant
Description
In this project I plan to introduce my audience to the presence of Classical Greek and Roman culture in the Russian and Slavic world. I would like to indicate the extent that the Greeks and Romans were a presence in settlements in the Black Sea Region, and the significance this history has played in the Russian conscience. I will also provide material to indicate the interface between the Scythians and the Greeks, and what this history means, and has meant, for Russians.
