  1. Project Title

Provide a clear title for your project. The title should indicate the objects of the research as well as the type of research being undertaken, for example:

    • An Electronic Catalog of the Poetical Notebooks of Luís Hernández
    • Electronic Images of the Silk Road Project by Subject and Geography
    • Mining a Romanian Text Archive to Produce Descriptive Metadata
    • Extending Search Capabilities of an Existing Slavic/Romanian Morphology by Semantic Category
    • An Archive of Ubykh: Sounds, Wordlists, and Texts
  2. Project Personnel
    • Jane Doe, organizer
    • Sam smith, organizer
    • Lee Hunt, assistant
  3. Project Description

Provide a paragraph overview of the work you intend to undertake. Accompany the description with a bulleted outline of the tasks you intend to complete.

Project Work Plan

Below is a partial work plan for a hypothetical digital imaging project. Processing slides is fairly mechanical, but it still takes about twenty-minutes for each one. Collecting and entering metadata for each slide may be even more time-consuming than the scanning process, especially if you must obtain the information piece-meal from many different sources.

Digitizing a printed text may take about the same amount of time: twenty minutes per printed page to scan and perform OCR and proof. Tagging the resulting text, of course, will require additional time, but less time would be spent on rights management issues.

A video project comprised of only five minutes of new footage would be enormously more time consuming: writing the script, planning and scheduling the shoot, filming, and editing the footage.
