UW's "Next Best Steps" for Reducing GHG
Emissions
During
Winter Quarter 2007, 11 graduate students from
departments such as Public Policy, Business, and
Mechanical Engineering participated in independent
studies of 2 or 3 credits to explore various "next
best steps" for UW to mitigate its GHG emissions.
These projects were identified during the Fall of
2006 as possible excellent candidates for further
research in terms of feasibility, impact, and
support of constituents. The core UW Climate
Partnership team helped coordinate these projects
and will be reporting applicable lessons to Seattle
Climate Partnership Members. The team will also be
focusing on their own research on the scientific
validity and utility of GHG offsets. Details of
this and the other projects can be found
below.
