Camshaft
and Tappets Removal
- Rotate the flywheel until the Exhaust Valve is in
the fully raised position. Then place a holder (ie
popsicle stick) to keep the valve raised. Then continue
to rotate the flywheel until the intake valve is raised.
Place a holder under it as well, by now both valves
should be held in the raised position. This will relieve
the force of springs from pushing down against the push
rods and onto the camshaft.
- Remove the Camshaft by sliding it out,
both Tappets should fall out as well be sure to
keep them from falling on the floor or getting dirty. See
the photo below:
- Remove the Crankshaft Gear by sliding it
off the Crankshaft as shown:
