Cylinder Head Removal
- Remove the Spark Plug, use the 13/16" spark plug socket and ratchet.
- Remove the Cylinder Head, it is attached by seven 3/8" bolts, use the ratchet and 3/8" socket for this operation. Once all of the bolts have been removed the Tab for the Spark Plug Wire should be removed, this tab is held down by three of the Cylinder Head bolts. These bolts are located on the top of the cylinder head as depicted:
- Examine the cylinder head and take notice of the distinctive shape on the inside on the head. Also examine the cooling fins as wells as the spark plug position relative to the combustion chamber.
- With the Cylinder Head removed the piston and valves can be clearly seen. If the flywheel is turned by hand, the valve and piston movement can be observed. Take a few moments to simulate the combustion process, follow along with the diagram below:
