About the Instructor

I am the sole instructor for ENVIR 450B. I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Biology at the UW, and received a Huckabay Teaching Fellowship from the UW Graduate School to develop this course in collaboration with Tom Hinckley (Professor of Forestry) and Julia Parrish (Director of the Program on the Environment).

Because I am a graduate student in Biology, that's where my office is located (details below). Even if you've never been to my building and have trouble finding my office, please do not think I don't want to talk to you. I'm really not that hard to find and I enjoy talking with students. Keep the following in mind: you are paying the entirety of my salary this quarter. Get your money's worth!

Office Hours

I have chosen to schedule two kinds of office hours:

  • In my office, Kincaid 442 , Thursdays 3:30-4:30pm, or by appointment, and
  • Online, via Gmail chat, Wednesdays, 4:30-6:00pm.
    • Gmail account: alaskacourse at gmail.com

These office hours may be subject to change if they do not suit most students' schedules or if I have a schedule change of my own to work around. The most current information about office hours (and everything else) will always be posted on the course website.
