 To find the answer:

 

1.     Note that the area of a section square is six miles by six miles, which equals 36 square miles. 

 

2.     Break one section into quarters, to find the area which is 3mi * 3mi = 9 square miles.

 

3.     Break the quarter section into quarters to find the area, which is 1.5mi * 1.5mi = 2.25 square miles in area. 

 

4.     Convert miles into acres by multiplying 2.25 by 640 acres/mi, this equals 1440 acres.
