Problem 1

For the equation sets given below solve for a and b

            Set 1

a + b = 10

a - b = 9

            Set 2

a2 + b = 21

a - b = - 1

Problem 2

Find the three unknown parts of the triangle shown in the figure

A = 460 09';  b = 100.00 ft;  c = 82.20 ft

Problem 3

The four-sided figure shown below represents a parcel of property owned by Scott.  The line E-F represents the center line of a right-of-way for a pipeline that is to cross Scott's property.  Determine the coordinates of the points of intersection of line E-F and side A-B and of line E-F and side D-C.  Coordinates are indicated in feet (x,y).

Problem 4

Find the points of intersection of the circle (x - 2)2 + (y - 3)2 = 49 and the straight line y = x + 1

Problem 5

Find the equation of a circle passing thru points (4,4) and (8,5) with radius 12.
