Problem 1

A surveyor whose pace is 2.5 ft paced a distance and recorded 209 paces. What should be the recorded distance?

Problem 2

A distance of 489.27 ft was measured with a 100-ft tape that is 0.02 ft too short. What is the correct distance?

Problem 3

4-9 Referring to figure 4-6c, what would be the size of angle ABC if the following distances are determined: BF= 29.42 m, BG= 26.52 m, and FG= 12.41 m?

Problem 4

Careless Carlos was measuring the distance between two points. Pulling the tape between the two points, he read a distance of 82.00 ft. However, he had carelessly pulled the tape on the wrong side of a tree, causing the tape to be 1.98 ft off line at the 25-ft mark. What is the correct distance between the points? Would it have made any difference if the tape had been 1.98 ft off at the 41 ft mark (instead of at the 25-ft mark)? If so, what?
