Assignments

You will be expected to write two 3-4-page reports on an assigned topic. Topics will usually pertain to the past and/or upcoming lectures. For each report there will be 2-3 topics to choose from. A DRAFT of the first report is due on 29 January and the final version on 12 February. The final version of the second report is due on 5 March (a DRAFT is not required). All assignments are due at the beginning of class.

The reports are brief and concise documents used to summarize research findings, emerging issues, and new concepts. Your objective will be to educate a specific audience, which will vary from topic to topic (e.g., from farmers to urbanites, or from community groups to a specific federal agency). In some cases, you may be asked to recommend a solution to a specific management problem. Your reports must be original, well-supported, and demonstrate a solid understanding of the topic. Your writing should be grammatically correct, concisely written, and well organized. Written reports will be commented on, graded and returned within a week.
