Week 11:
Overview
This week while we finish up project 3B, we look at security for our home computers, for databases, and for sending data over the Internet. We also look at netiquette for emails and online forums.
This week we finish Unit III and the whole course. We have covered a lot of territory in our journey!! Congratulations on making it through!
Objectives
The objectives for this week are:
- Explain the security methods used in public key cryptosystems (PKCs), in particular, the RSA system
- Perform simple encryption from clear text to cipher text and perform the reverse decryption
- Describe several tips associated with netiquette and explain the benefits of following them
- Explain the phrase “expect the unexpected” and how that advice helped in handling an email bug
- List some ways your computer can become infected with malicious software
- Name three permitted/not permitted uses of licensed software
- Explain what rights are granted to material that is copyrighted
- Discuss some issues related to safety-critical applications
- Discuss the differences in remembering IT details and ideas when you are Fluent
- Discuss lifelong IT learning through finding new uses, asking for help, and noticing new techology
- Discuss the benefits of achieving Fluency now and in the future
