We rely heavily on the course's GoPost discussion board for connection, technical support, content discussion, and monitoring participation.

The instructor and the TAs read and monitor the discussion board daily, we do not typically post "answers" for at least 24 hours to allow for peer solutions to be posted. Too often an instructor or TA solution tends to stop a discussion thread when in fact there often may be other and even better solutions available. The 24-hour gap allows the more experienced in the class to help the other students.

Use of Discussion Boards

The discussion board has no restrictions. If you are stumped on an assignment, ask. Your question will be welcomed. If you grasp the concept more fully or quickly, it can help your overall outcome in the course.

The board has three types of discussion areas

• Weekly Discussion Areas:
  These are for the weekly GoPost discussions. You will need to post at least once a week.
• Help Desk on GoPost:
  This area is where you can post questions and answers regarding readings, labs, and projects. Do not post complete solutions to assignments, but instead offer suggestions, links to helpful information, or small fixes (e.g., You forgot to close the quotation marks).
• The Barnyard:
  This area is for students to embrace the diversity that they bring to the classroom. Interesting IT news items will be posted here, and the biography thread is found here as well. Students can feel free to use this space to dicuss any topics they feel are related to the course.
