- Bem scale’s classification of traits as masculine or feminine has held up over time
- 1994 - work by Harris showed that some traits defined as feminine in the 1970s were now considered neutral by whites (normative group mostly white)
- For blacks, the scale is less accurate with many of the masculine and a few of the feminine traits be listed as neutral in 1994
