Most studies of the relationship between gender and behavior are correlational studies
- cannot assign individuals gender randomly
- people come pre-assigned to a gender category (subject variable) and bring with them all the experience they’ve had with the category.
Therefore, we cannot make any statements about causality from most gender studies.
