MRFM Group Meetings are are open to all (schedule here). These meetings are a good opportunity for students to learn what is going on. Again, no appointment is necessary, but it is a good idea to call ahead to confirm the meeting time.
It would be prudent for out-of-town visitors to arrange definite arrangements for meeting times with Drs. Sidles or Garbini, but drop-in visitors are welcome.
Downtown Seattle is in Washington State, about 15 miles north of SeaTac airport. The University of Washington is about 6 miles north of downtown Seattle.

Campus maps are available at the UW map page. The Mechanical Engineering Building is at coordinate "O-12", of this enlarged map.
There is a large fountain at the center of campus, called Drumheller Fountain, which is a good landmark (any passing UW student can direct you to it). Having found the fountain, the Mechanical Engineering building is about 200 meters due east. It is near a tall green smokestack. Enter at the South entrance, and look for our MRFM exhibit in the lobby. Proceed north on the first floor to Room 119, labeled "MRFM Lab". Knock loudly! The lab phone is 206-543-1720.
