Final Class Project
Hindi 323A – Spring 2009
The objective of this class exercise is to get you to use the various skills you have acquired during second-year Hindi in order to stand up in front of the class and produce good, coherent Hindi for at least 10 minutes in class during June 2-4. This can be a monologue on any topic of your choice, or a skit in partnership. (If partnering, total time will be double, i.e., 20 minutes). Entertainment value is a plus! J Turn in your project script (in Hindi, of course) by Tuesday, May 26, so that I can return the corrections to you in time to incorporate in your final presentation. You may use a crib sheet/flash cards in English to assist you in delivery.
In grading the project, which will count for 10% of your final grade, the following factors will be considered:
· Grammaticality (i.e. forming Hindi sentences that adhere to the rules of standard Hindi grammar);
· Can you be understood by your audience? (For your turned in script, legible, neat, and accurate handwriting);
· Ambitiousness (i.e., making use of a diversity of grammatical constructions);
· Coherence (the presentation as a whole should have a flow and structure);
· Use of appropriate vocabulary (i.e., words should be used in their proper senses)
· Entertainment and/or instructional content: your classmates should be able to follow your presentation and, as a bonus, learn something from it
In order to assist me in evaluating your presentation, please supply an English translation so I can figure out what you’re trying to say (just in case I can’t!).
