Apocrine gland becomes active

Lumen formation occurs by the same mechanisms as are operative in the formation of the eccrine duct. The gland begins to secrete a milky fluid during the third trimester of gestation. At birth, the gland is non-functional and does not resume functioning until about the 7th year of life.
