Vessels and Nerves: Week 11

Two planes

Starting in the 11th week of gestation, a second horizontal vascular plexus forms in the dermis.

The nerves continue to arborize and arrange themselves in a heirarchical structure according to their size and density. A deep nerve plexus forms in parallel to the deep vascular plexus. By this point in development, the basic architecture of the blood vessels and nerves is established which will persist for the entire life of the organism.
