Treatment:
- Initial treatment for thin (less than 1mm) melanoma is surgical excision
- For thick (greater than 4mm) melanoma, treatment includes surgery, lymph node study, and possible removal of involved lymph nodes.

- For advanced melanoma (with metastases), there is a role for chemotherapy including the use of immune response modifiers.
