The original page was simple and drab. Black text on a white background felt cold and uninviting. This is not the impression you want to make when you are asking citizens to donate their time for jury duty. However, the original page itself has the very good quality of being easily navigable. Government sites should be sites where people can come in, get access to information quickly, and get out.
I wanted to keep my site navigable in my re-restyle. I was able to do this by either putting the main navigation bar on the left or the right. I put the text on a gold background to make it more regal and noble. Gold makes things more worthy and important and jurors are asked to do a very important task. I kept the "Washington Courts" image on both my restyle to maintain some continuity with the other sister pages on the Washington Courts website.
