Project 3: A PROJECT OF YOUR OWN CHOOSING…

[pdf version]

Topic Due: Tuesday, November 26 at the beginning of class (email is fine).

Project Due: Tuesday, December 10 at the beginning of class.  No late projects will be accepted.

Overview

I have one goal for your third project: To extend your knowledge about informatics in an area we have explored in class or to investigate a new area related to informatics.

individual or group project?

You may choose to do project 3 either as a group project or individually.  Please recall that of the three projects assigned for this course, at least one of them must be done individually.  In the case of group projects, all members of the group will receive the same grade for the project.  In addition, for project 3 you must inform me in writing (email is fine), if you will be working in a group with a list of group members by Tuesday, Nov. 26.

Scope of Project

In terms of size, Project 3 should be roughly the same scope as Project 1 or Project 2.

Choosing a Topic

Project 3 is an opportunity to pursue what most interests you!  The topic of project 3 is up to you.  That said, you must commit to a final project topic by Nov. 26.  Please discuss the topic for your third project with me (email is fine) well in advance so that we mutually agree on the topic and scope of the work.   I will have two concerns here: (1) that your project appropriately fall within the area of informatics, and (2) that the scope of your project is not too big or too small, given that it is the third project in a quarter-long class.

Class Presentation

Please prepare a brief (3-5 minute) presentation of your project for the class.  Class presentations will be scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 5 and Tuesday, Dec. 10.  Closer to the time, I will provide a list of who will present on what date.
