Final Assignment
Final Assignment: Subject Vocabularies.
In this part of the exercise, you may want to revisit your subject elements in the original schema you constructed based upon your newly found knowledge in this area. If so, modify your metadata schema table to reflect the changes you make, and add new elements as needed. You should NOT change your administrative or descriptive elements you have already defined authority control/encoding schemes for at this point in time. Your controlled vocabulary (-ies) will be the authority control/encoding schemes for your subject elements. Your deliverable for the final assignment will consist of three parts: 1. A final version of your metadata schema table with all elements defined and authority control/encoding schemas/controlled vocabularies defined, including specific subject elements used for your subject metadata. (maximum 15 points) 2. A fully realized version of your schema and vocabularies expressed through the use of bundles and structured tags on http://del.icio.us/, set up in a special account you have created just for IMT530. You will need to provide me with access information to your account so I can view your results. For examples, see http://del.icio.us/musicfacet, and read this blog entry: http://efoundations.typepad.com/efoundations/2006/10/dctagged.html. (maximum 15 points) 3. A 7-10 page discussion of your approach to building these vocabularies, and the problems and solutions you came up with in your work. In particular, you should discuss how Del.icio.us worked or didn't work to help you build out a visual example of your schema, vocabularies and encoding schemes. Be sure to include references to resources you used to help you make the decisions you did. A template is available on the course web site to guide you in this effort. (maximum 20 points) Maximum points for final assignment: 50 |
