Attitudes, Appraisals and Assessments
For this
week’s essays, you can select 2 of the following 3 questions
to answer:
1. What factors influence environmental concern? In considering
environmental concern, what is the connection between attitudes
and action? What implications does this have for environmental
education?
2. What are some of the dimensions on which environmental
appraisals are based? Do you think they adequately capture
or describe an environment? Are there any other dimensions
that you would suggest?
3. Often, panels of experts are assembled to conduct environmental
assessments. However, some research demonstrates that people
with formal design training or other environmental expertise
assess places differently than those without such training.
What are the implications of this? What do you think could
be done about this?
