  • The required text used for this course is Speech and Language Processing: An Introduction to NLP, Computational Linguistics, and Speech Recognition by D. Jurafsky and J. H. Martin. This is the second edition with significant changes since the first edition—so please don’t buy the old edition of the book.
  • A recommended (but not required) text is Foundations of Statistical Natural Language Processing by Chris Manning and Hinrich Schütze. Please see the text website for more information.
  • Another recommended text is Natural Language Processing: Analyzing Text with Python and the Natural Language Toolkit by Steven Bird, Ewan Klein, and Edward Loper. This text is available electronically and free of charge here.
