Cancer magister

Cancer magister crabs are quite large and are red to purple in color. This crab was found at Willapa Bay in the low intertidal zone on the soft sediment. He was sitting on top of the sand and he slowly began to dig himself deep into the sand. He was purple and about 7 inches wide by 5 inches long.
