Pinnixa littoaralis

This crab was the most amazing find in the field. Digging into the soft sediment in the mid-intertidal zone, we found a Pacific Gaper. Unfortunately, the gaper was killed in the process but it enabled the Gaper Sea Crab to be seen. The Gaper Sea Crab crawled out of the Pacific Gaper carcass. It was very small and light brown in color.

This gaper sea crab was found on Willapa Bay on 4/20/07.  Picture courtesy of Bonnie Becker.
