TITLE:

"Development of a "Clinically Friendly" Tool for Quantifying Manual Examinations & Treatments of Joints"

ABSTRACT:

The clinical assessment and treatment of joint movement impairments caused
by soft tissue limitations require musculoskeletal examinations and therapies
that are often based on subjective perceptions of the manual forces being
applied to the joint and the resulting displacements of the joint surfaces.
Hence, there is a need to develop objective measurements of these clinical
tests. This seminar presentation will cover the background, rationale and
current status of a project that is attempting to develop a "clinically friendly"
motion and force measurement system to provide clinicians with objective
information on the performance of common orthopaedic examination and
manual treatment techniques.
