TITLE:
"Clinical
Assessment of Computer-Manufactured Sockets"
ABSTRACT:
The purpose of this research was to pursue quality standards for
computer-manufacturing of
prosthetic sockets for people with transtibial limb loss. In this study
we compared clinicall
assessments of socket fit performed by an experienced practitioner with
metrics of shape error
from computer-aided fabrication. From analysis of 33 sockets,
three distinct computational
metrics emerged. Those metrics, the basis for them, and their potential
application towards
enhancement of clinical prosthetics will be discussed.
