Course description:

MEBI 530 provides an overview of biomedical and health informatics (BHI) from diverse perspectives, including:
      - Motivations for BHI and drivers of change
      - The biomedical contexts of BHI, including clinical, molecular, public       - health, and translational science perspectives
      - The evolution of concepts and methods in BHI
      - The cultural and philosophical context of BHI
These perspectives are then used to look at some challenges for the field as a whole. The challenges explored include:
      - Driving problems, forces, and politics of importance to BHI
      - Successes and failures of BHI
      - Making sense of information
      - Representing information
      - Biomedical data standards
