ICM II Homepage
The Introduction to Clinical Medicine II is a full year course throughout the second year of medical school - HuBio 542/550/560. The syllabus is the main reference for the course (along with a required text for the physical exam portion of the course). It is organized into four sections. Section 1 covers the logistical and administrative aspects of the course and provides an overview of the year. Section 2 covers specific information related to autumn quarter (HuBio 542), providing both further administrative information and course material for the autumn quarter lectures, tutorials, and workshops. Sections 3 and 4 provide similar information for winter (HuBio 550) and spring (HuBio 560) quarters respectively. The material in sections 2, 3 and 4 is organized in a week by week fashion with the appropriate material for each session in that week following any general information about the sessions.
The syllabus is provided with hole-punches to allow it to be put into a three ring binder or notebook. Additional handouts or other course material (updated schedules, reading material, other housekeeping items, etc.) provided during the year will be prepared to fit into the syllabus in appropriate places. This also enables students to “regroup” sections of the syllabus (such as physical exam materials or clinical skills materials) which they might want to keep separately for use throughout the year. We are also developing an on-line syllabus which some students may find easier to use.
We would like to acknowledge and thank the students, faculty and staff who reviewed the syllabus in draft form and contributed helpful comments and suggestions. We are grateful for their assistance and support. Please bring any comments on the content or writing (including typos) in the syllabus to the attention of Dr. Goldstein so that these may be corrected for next year.
