WEEK 5 – February 5 Technology & Shooting
- Film presentation: "Independent America: Rising from Ruins" Communications Room 120, 6 p.m.

You must make the following notes during the screening:

(1) About a specific visual (it could be how a shot is framed, a particular camera angle, an interview setup, etc.). This chapter from Stevens, "A Story from Start to Finish" might help you:

(2) About a specific edit or sequence.

(3) A couple of lines of what you think the storyline is (i.e the narrative structure: beginning, middle, end).

We'll discuss at least one of these in class afterwards, and you'll submit all three to me via e-mail or on paper by the end of class.  This will count to your participation grade.  And I'll respond to each one of you (the screening is meant to be an educational experience for you).

- Guest: Drew Keller, Senior Editor Microsoft, the craft of shooting, editing and distribution.

- Brainstorm session on collaboration with Kenyan film students.

- Students present Deliverable 4 in-class.

- Deliverable 5: Shooting and editing exercise.
- Final Deliverable: Begin planning and shooting client film. First cut due Week 8. Final Cut, Week 10.
