Your group will give a ten minute presentation to summarize your results and conclusions of Lab 5- Mechanical Testing.

Format:

Oral presentation with about equal contributions from all group memebers
10 minutes in length, plus about 5 minutes for class and TA questions
Between 8 and 12 power point slides- Bring on a USB thumb drive, save to your email account just in case.
A computer and projector will be provided. The computer will be runing Windows and PowerPoint 2003. Check to make sure your slides and pictures are compatable with these formats before the final presentation.

Purpose:

The main purpose of the presentaiton is to present a clear argument why one of the materials tested should be used in your group's component.
You should present between 4-6 materials as possible options.
You need to demonstate an understanding of how chemistry and processing lead to microscture and properties.
Your conclusion concerning which material should be used needs to be based on the criteria you decide upon and the data you measure and research.
Criteria which need to be included in your presentation: Cost, and at least two of the parameters measured in Lab 5 (yield strength, tensile strength, ductitliy, elastic modulus, toughness)
Other possible criteria: density (weight), environmetal impact, corrosion resistance, fatique resistance, thermal conductivity, thermal expansion, hardness, impact resistance, abrasion resistance, ect

Possible Outline:

Title slide with group member names, component, and materials
Overview of component
Criteria chosen to evaluate materials
Data for your materials including microstructures
Conclusion
References
