Oceanography 444, Spring 2008
Advanced Field Oceanography

News
June 2008 -- Final papers are available on students' web sites and will be available soon in the University Archive.

Introduction

Welcome to the web site for Oceanography 444, the five-credit course which constitutes the second part of the senior thesis experience. During the two part course students design research projects covering facets of all four oceanographic subdisciplines. This year students conducted research in and around Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska, aboard the R/V Thomas G. Thompson. In addition to planning their own research, the students were responsible for much of the cruise planning. The class members now have five short weeks in which to complete their sample processing and data analysis and prepare a manuscript using the format of the journal of Limnology and Oceanography. Their final results will also be posted to this web site in May after a 2-day class symposium, open to the public, describing their results, on June 3 and 5, 2008.

During spring quarter the students will be posting progress reports on their own home pages. Please check back often.
