When people ask us why we love studying the mud and getting dirty (like that needs any explanation) I immediately say: “Because it’s good for the skin!” Well, on our New Year’s Extravaganza, we FINALLY got to prove just how very true that is. After the many amazing festivities we got to partici
pate in (many, many thanks to Rick and the other professors, and to all others involved, for such an amazing experience), we booked appointments at the Thompson Spa of the Pacific, a magnificent 5-star spa with an unobstructed, 360-view of the waters of Hawaii. When the time came, we were surprised to be greeted by the spa’s founder, Charlié. He graciously directed us to our seats and we prepared for the best facial treatment around, using mud that only a select few have ever seen and will ever see. Our skin was pretreated with a very creamy “moisturizer”, and after rinsing we were ready for our mud facials. We lied back on our seats and were serenaded by a deep baritone voice, as the finest mud around was applied liberally onto our awaiting faces. As the sun’s rays went to work we could feel the rejuvenating effects of the mud working. It was such an amazing experience that we went back and added a faux-full body mud bath. The mud cooled our bodies as it exfoliated and softened our skin, but
sadly as we lay in the sun’s rays the fire hoses came out and drenched us, washing away the mud before it could fully dry so we will never know just how amazing everything could be, but we know that everyone is totally jealous of our nice soft skin thanks to the best mud bath and facial that our tuition money could buy.
