Instructors will expect you as students to:

  • enroll in this class because you want to learn the subject matter
  • turn in assignments on time and complete work in a professional manner that is neat and easy to read
  • come to class prepared to participate in activities and join in discussions including completing your pre-class preparation assignments
  • have an email address that you will check regularly to receive emails about course information
  • ask questions if there is any component of this course you are not understanding or curious to learn more about
  • come to class on time and not leave class early, or let instructors know in advance of reasons why you will be late or unable to attend class
  • be courteous and respectful of other student's learning
  • only participate in coursework during classtime
  • be resourceful and seek out extra help if necessary
  • maintain a supportive learning environment by respecting everyone in the classroom and all of their diversities and differences
  • maintain a high level of academic honesty and integrity in regards to plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct, if you have any questions about this please see the College of Engineering Policy on Academic Misconduct
  • adhere to the University of Washington Student Code of Conduct

Students can expect us as instructors to:

  • come to class on time, or let students know in a timely fashion of any emergencies that will prevent their attendance
  • design all coursework to be directly relevant to the course objectives and represent a reasonable work load
  • be responsive to student's concerns
  • be available through office hours, additional scheduled appointments, email and office telephone
  • reply to emails as quickly as is reasonably possible, at a minimum we will reply within one "working" day
  • provide timely evaluation and feedback on coursework
  • maintain a supportive learning environment by respecting everyone in the classroom and all of their diversities and differences
