CLUE
Center
for Undergraduate Learning and Enrichment

for Psych 101A/D
Autumn 2009
Dr. Passer

When? WE ARE SETTING UP CLUE TO BEGIN THE 2nd  WEEK OF THE QUARTER.
TENTATIVELY, MONDAY EVENING 6:30--8:00 PM IS OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED TIME FOR CLUE.

Where? Mary Gates Hall, Room 251 (this is our new room; it is no longer 234). (campus map)
NOTICE: For each CLUE session immediately prior to an exam, we will attempt to get
a larger room if needed. Information will be posted when the time comes.

Who? Unless otherwise noted, each session is led by one of our TAs or our TA Fellow.

What? The primary goal of our CLUE sessions is to provide you with opportunities
to learn about and review course material. and assess how well you understand that
material. Specific topics may focus on those covered by Dr. Passer in class, or on topics
covered in the textbook but which Dr. Passer will not cover in lecture. The TA leader
for each session will not simply lecture for an hour and a half. Rather, CLUE provides
opportunities for more active learning in which you participate. For example,
the TA may ask you to get into small groups, discuss questions related to
the course material with group members, and then present/review each group's
answers with the entire group. Alternatively, TAs may present questions for
you to work on individually and then discuss the material with the entire
group. In some sessions, time may be set aside simply to allow you to do
course readings and ask the TA for assistance with those readings if needed.
Demonstrations may be performed in some CLUE sessions to help reinforce your
understanding of the material, and sometimes we might show a film or video.
You will also have opportunities to ask questions. For each CLUE session that falls
immediately before an exam, that session will be used as an Interactive
Exam Review (we will also hold other Exam Interactive Review sessions
for each chapter during regular daytime hours).
