  • The connection betwee database that contains everyone registered (and not) and Tycho is having trouble. The result is that until this morning the Tycho roster was 2 weeks behind. As of this morning it is about 48 hours behind. So if you registered in the last 48 hours you'll not be able to get in. Everyone involved is working hard on this, and hopefully it will be fixed soon.
  • Physics Department's Annual Spring Advising for prospective and declared physics majors will begin Monday, April 18th through April 29th. (for two weeks). All prospective majors are encouraged to participate. The idea is to meet with a Professor from the department and plan out the courses for next year. Contact Margot Nims for any questions, setting up an appointment, or what is required if you want to be a physics major!

  • Office hours are now official.
  • HW #1 is partially posted (Tycho won't be up until Weds). The Tycho is due at 11pm on Weds (or 9:30 am Thursday for 70% credit), and the written portion must be handed in, in class, on Weds. Two of the 5 problems will be graded.

  • Lab manuals won't be ready until Thursday or Friday, it turns out (Prof was sick). Your first lab is on next Tuesday.
3/27 Welcome to 123B! This course is a little easier than 122 because it is less abstract. But don't forget to allocate enough time to study and learn anyway; it will still be tough!
  • The lab has a home page this quarter!
  • A first version of the schedule has been posted. The final tutorial schedule should be posted very soon.

Some info about last quarter:

  • Average GPA was 3.4.
  • Exam Solutions can be found here (pdf).
  • Exam distribution, mean, etc. can be found in this gif file.
  • I'll bring the finals with me to the first day of class. If you can't make it to that class, feel free to drop by Laura Clement's office in C136 and pick them up.
