Resources and websites for personal advice and safety issues

Feeling overwhelmed? Anxious, depressed? Scared by the behavior of a fellow student or other person? The following websites give information on UW services that can help. Don't be shy - seek help before your concern turns into a crisis.

Counseling and advice:

The following links (thanks to the UW Center for Instructional Development) let you find the help you may need. Occasional feelings of anxiety and depression are quite common among college students, and folks at the counseling centers listed below are there full-time to help you.

401 Schmitz Hall. Personal and career counseling by psychologists and counselors, individually or in group sessions. On-call counselors are available by phone weekdays 8-5.

"The place to go when you don't know where to go." Help in dealing with personal and family crises. 543-4972, 4th floor, Schmitz Hall.

U-CALL: 206-543-CALL (-2255)
A student-run service staffed by trained volunteers, with professional backup. They help by listening to the wide range of issues that students may want to discuss anonymously with a peer. 5:30pm to 7:30am on weekdays, and all day/night on weekends, during the quarter and finals week. (During weekday hours, call the Counseling Center, listed above.)

We have become more aware of everyone's responsibility to help in violence prevention. If you are concerned about another person's behavior, prevent a possible tragedy: tell someone!
