The problem with animal agriculture is that it uses an enormous amount of our natural resources and creates a high level of greenhouse-gas emissions. Meat production uses a vast amount of water, crops and land. The animals being raised for food create a large amount of excrement. The runoff from the livestock pollutes the rivers and lakes. Bacteria and viruses can be carried by the runoff and the groundwater can be contaminated. A global shift to a vegan diet is crucial to counteract the effects of climate change. I also believe in the ethical treatment of animals. In order to produce large amounts of meat efficiently, the animals are the ones who pay the price. Furthermore, by adopting a meatless diet we could feed everyone in the world as a tremendous amount of grain is produced for the livestock. I am a vegetarian and I believe that we can produce meat alternatives that would less expensive and the production would be less harmful to the environment. With meat alternatives, we can stop our dependence on meat as a whole. Vegetarianism and veganism are good practices of avoiding meat dependency because they protect animals and they promote ethical conduct. They are not only a more compassionate choice but also better for the environment. I believe that the role in mass-producing vegetables by enhancing agricultural practices and considering economic benefits can ensure the continuity required in the development of safe consumption and healthy eating.

My research paper focused on finding a solution in mitigating the dependency on meat production in the global food production.
