INTRODUCTION
1. What is Biopsychology?
or Psychobiology or Physiological Psychology?
Branch of neuroscience concerned with the biology of behavior.
It is the encounter or merging of two different bodies of knowledge.
Psychology: studies how people behave and interact with each other.
People have characteristics and capacities that determine behavior, such as emotions, motivation, learning, memory, perception.
Biology: studies the mechanisms of the body and brain. We can use Biology to understand human behavior.
Thus, Biopsychology is the biology of psychology, or the biology of behavior.
It is an attempt at understanding the mind, the behaving human being with the laws of biology: through the working of the brain.
How does Biology operates?
Notion of System and Explanation.
Identification of units or components, and of the law of interactions between units.
Organization: set of units and network of interactions among them.
We will use these principles to understand the brain and behavior.
